Coffee Recipes

Starting points that work. Adjust grind and ratio to taste — these are not rigid rules.

Pour Over (V60 / similar)

Clean, bright cup. Best with a gooseneck kettle.

  • Ratio: 1:16 (e.g. 20g coffee → 320g water)
  • Grind: Medium-fine
  • Water: 195–205°F (90–96°C)
  • Time: ~2:30–3:30 total

Bloom 40–50g water for 30–45 seconds, then pour in slow circles to your target weight.

French Press

Full-bodied, forgiving. Great for weekends.

  • Ratio: 1:15 (e.g. 30g coffee → 450g water)
  • Grind: Coarse
  • Water: ~200°F (93°C)
  • Time: 4 minutes steep, then press

Add coffee, pour all water, stir once, lid on, wait 4 minutes, plunge gently.

AeroPress

Fast, versatile, travel-friendly.

  • Ratio: 1:14–1:16 (e.g. 15g coffee → 220g water)
  • Grind: Medium-fine to fine
  • Water: 175–205°F depending on recipe
  • Time: 1–2 minutes steep, then press

Standard or inverted method both work. Start standard: coffee in, water in, stir, attach filter, press after ~1:30.

Cold Brew (concentrate)

Smooth, low-acid. Make a batch for the week.

  • Ratio: 1:5 to 1:8 for concentrate
  • Grind: Coarse
  • Time: 12–18 hours in the fridge

Combine coffee and cold water, stir, cover, refrigerate. Strain, then dilute 1:1 with water or milk to drink.

Espresso (starting point)

Machine-dependent. Use this as a baseline, then dial in.

  • Dose: 18g in → ~36g out (1:2)
  • Time: ~25–32 seconds
  • Grind: Fine (adjust until time and taste line up)

If sour → finer grind or longer shot. If bitter/harsh → coarser grind or shorter shot.
